This model is Kinetic so is quartz based but, has a rechargeable cell which is charged by the movement of your arm. It also features an Auto Relay mechanism, this will stop the hands from moving when the watch is not worn for 48hrs. It does this to conserve power. Although the hands stop the watch is still keeping precise time. When you go to put the watch on again all you have to do is give it a light shake and the hands will automatically move to the correct time! On top of all this it also has a built in Perpetual Calendar, this means that once you have set it you will never have to adjust the date ever again. It knows when we are in a leap year and will display February 29th, followed by March 1st the next day. It knows every date up to the year 2100!

This beautiful timepiece comes with the original bracelet, which will fit a maximum wrist size of 210 mm approximately.

We offer a free bracelet resizing service, simply message us after you have purchased the timepiece (before dispatch) with the required size. All links removed in this process will of course be sent with the watch.

 Seiko Kinetic Explained

Like mechanical and quartz, Kinetic is a platform. Over the past 20 years, SEIKO has created on this platform a suite of Kinetic movements, each bringing unique features to the consumer.

Simply put, a Kinetic movement is a Quartz movement with it's own built in charger. The movement of the wrist creates a small electrical charge which is then stored in a Li-Ion rechargeable cell (capacitor) that in turn powers the watch when it is not moving.

When kept charged these watches can run for years without a cell (capacitor) needing to be changed.

The Golden Rule with any Li-ion cell based movement though (this also includes Citizen Eco-Drive & Casio Solar watches) is to never let it fully discharge without expecting it to damage the cell. Optimum charge for longevity seems to be around 40% charge.
